EA Confirms Ongoing Development of Licensed Games
United Gaming – EA’s licensed game development is far from over, despite recent cancellations and licensing changes. The gaming giant had earlier announced the cancellation of several titles, including the much-anticipated Black Panther game, and officially ended its long-standing partnership with FIFA. These decisions led many to speculate that EA was stepping away from licensed game development entirely.
However, new information suggests otherwise. According to a report from The Gamer, a conversation between EA Entertainment President Laura Miele and Variety journalist Jennifer Maas has shed light on EA’s current strategy regarding licensed titles. During the discussion, Miele addressed concerns about The Sims 5 and clarified the company’s ongoing commitment to licensed games.

Despite the setback with Black Panther, EA continues to actively support two major licensed titles: Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes for mobile and the long-running MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic. Both games remain live and are receiving regular updates.
In addition to ongoing support for current games, EA is also developing a new installment in the Star Wars Jedi series. EA Motive, the studio behind Star Wars: Squadrons, is currently working on an Iron Man game, which began development in 2022. This further confirms EA’s commitment to high-profile collaborations.
Interestingly, the company has also retained several licenses from both Disney and Marvel. While the exact titles remain under wraps, the implication is clear—EA has not exited the licensed IP market. Instead, they are quietly working on “several” unannounced projects tied to major entertainment franchises.
The scope of these partnerships remains a mystery, but they strongly suggest that more games tied to Marvel or Star Wars are on the horizon.
One of the biggest fan theories arising from this news is the potential development of Star Wars Battlefront 3. Though unconfirmed, EA’s ongoing relationship with Disney and Lucasfilm leaves the door open for the return of the beloved franchise. The anticipation continues to grow as players wait for official announcements.
