Harada personally wanted Deadpool in Tekken 8. However, negotiations with Marvel created problems. He explained that if Deadpool joined, Marvel might also demand other characters from their universe. This condition made the plan unrealistic.
The team also viewed John Wick as a serious candidate. His realistic fighting style fits Tekken’s gameplay. Murray believed Wick’s presence could appeal to both movie fans and gamers. Despite the potential, the idea never moved past early talks.
Developers also mentioned controversial options like Donald Trump and Mike Tyson. Murray said some fans might enjoy using Trump, while others would want to defeat him. Bandai Namco rejected the proposal to avoid damaging the company’s image. The same happened with Tyson due to his troubled past.
