Tower of Fantasy’s Warped Server in China to Eliminate Gacha Mechanics
United Gaming – Tower of Fantasy, the open-world action RPG by Hotta Studio, is making a bold move. The developers announced a new server—Warped Server, launching in August 2025 for Chinese players. Unlike the current global servers, this version will remove all gacha mechanics and focus on creating a true MMORPG experience. Hotta Studio revealed this update on Bilibili, emphasizing their goal to prioritize gameplay and community over monetization.
Instead of relying on chance-based mechanics, players will receive six powerful weapons for free right from the start. Additionally, cosmetics, mounts, and bonus items will come from daily logins and seasonal events. With this new direction, Red Nucleus and paid gacha will be completely removed. This means players can enjoy progression without hitting any paywalls or grind traps.

In contrast to the traditional system, Warped Server introduces open player trading. The new Trade House and Auction House allow players and guilds to exchange and auction items freely. Moreover, the in-game economy will support gold farming, item crafting, and fair exchange. These changes will create a more immersive and interactive multiplayer experience, reinforcing the game’s MMORPG roots.
To avoid stat inflation and burnout, developers will introduce seasonal resets. Equipment stats and gear levels will adjust regularly, giving newcomers a better chance to catch up. In addition, exclusive rewards and cosmetics will be distributed at the end of each season, encouraging continuous participation. This model ensures balanced gameplay and fair competition across all player levels.
Besides economy changes, Warped Server will expand its social and guild systems. Players can interact in Guild Bases, organize events, and engage in Group Activities. A new Team Ultimate Skill feature will enhance co-op combat, letting players trigger powerful combo attacks. Together, these improvements will elevate team play and foster stronger in-game communities.
Unlike the original global model, the Warped Server represents a player-first approach. By removing gacha and focusing on traditional MMO elements, Hotta Studio shows their commitment to improving player experience. This shift aligns with long-standing community requests for less monetization and more content-focused updates.
Warped Server will debut in August 2025 for Chinese users only. Developers have opened applications for closed testing and will implement feedback directly from the community. While there’s no official word on a global release, this experiment could influence the future of Tower of Fantasy worldwide.
