Valorant Upgrades to Unreal Engine 5, Launching July 29, 2025!
United Gaming – After 10 years on Unreal Engine 4, Riot Games officially upgrades Valorant to Unreal Engine 5. This change comes with Patch 11.02 and celebrates Valorant’s fifth anniversary. The patch will roll out between July 29 and July 30, 2025, depending on your region.
Riot first teased this upgrade in October 2024. Valorant Studios Head, Anna Donlon, made the announcement at Unreal Fest 2024 in Seattle. Fans had been eagerly waiting ever since.
Unlike most games chasing flashy graphics, Riot focuses on performance. Expect smoother frame rates, faster patch downloads, and a smaller game installation size. Players will need at least 30 GB of free space to download the patch. But the total game size will shrink once the update completes.
Despite the engine upgrade, Riot promises that Valorant’s core gameplay remains the same. All lineups, visuals, and mechanics will feel familiar. Marcus Reid, Valorant’s Tech Lead, said lower-end systems may see better performance without any major issues.
Players who log in during the patch window will receive a special edition gun buddy. Riot also confirmed that the long-awaited Replay System will launch in Patch 11.06 this September. It will be available for PC competitive play, while console support will follow.
This upgrade is a major step forward. It shows Riot’s commitment to Valorant’s long-term growth. With better performance and new features coming soon, Valorant stays strong in the competitive gaming world.
